The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has finally taken action on the student-lecturer debacle.
In a letter, the third-year student of the Department of History and International Studies, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, who assaulted one of her lecturers, Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, was expelled from the university shortly after the Students’ Disciplinary Committee looked into the case.
The Disciplinary Committee cited in the letter that the unruly act perpetrated by the student is a grave misconduct and violation of the Students’ Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).
Recall that the fiasco happened at the Faculty of Arts building of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious was reported to have been recording a TikTok video when Dr. Okoye walked by and gently tapped her to allow him pass.
The act of civility was said to have enraged the student, leading to a fistfight with the lecturer amidst pleas and attempts at separation from officials, students, as well as onlookers and passersby.
