A certain AbdulRahman Mohammed Ballo has been apprehended in Ilorin, Kwara State for allegedly murdering and mutilating Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
The unfortunate incident unfolded on February 10, 2025, when Yetunde, who was reportedly at a christening party, received a call and shortly after disappeared from the venue. When Yetunde’s parents waited for a while and discovered she didn’t return from the christening party, they reported the case of a missing person at the police station.
It was then that the police swung into action, and the search for Yetunde began. The police got hold of Yetunde’s number and tracked the last call she received to a certain Ballo, who was taken into custody for questioning.
When asked about Yetunde’s whereabouts, Ballo claimed initially that she had died of an asthma attack at his residence. A search was organized in Ballo’s residence, and there, the police discovered to their utmost surprise the dismembered body of Yetunde hidden in a bowl with tools of varying difference used for the mutilation.
Evidence gathered suggests a shocking revelation that Yetunde might not be Ballo’s first victim, as his house, a two-room apartment, has only one fully occupied room, while the other room contained a table, several bowls, and other tools suspected to be dismemberment tools.
“I commend the Kwara State Police Command, Ojo Oba, for the excellent job theyโve done in solving this case. The deceased lady was a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin. They met on Facebook, where he obtained her phone number. He then called her, inviting her to come over.
โDisturbingly, evidence found in the suspectโs house suggests this may not be his first offense. A table in his room appeared to be equipped with tools used to dismember bodies,โ the source told Channels Television.
Yetunde, a College of Education student, and Ballo, the Islamic cleric, were said to have met on Facebook and exchanged contacts on the same platform. When asked about the relationship between himself and the deceased, Ballo mentioned that Yetunde was his girlfriend.
