The “Jakpa” culture for most Nigerians isn’t ending anytime soon, especially with the staunch stance of Pharaoh the economy has taken. While many are screaming “let my people go” with their longer-than-the-heavens roll call plans to “JAKPA” or relocate, others are finding their way back to Nigeria, a move that has led many to assume that, for sure, the grass might not be greener on the other side.
Recently, a mother of twins and a toddler moved back to Nigeria, a decision that many found pathetically absurd, especially given the uncensored increase in the number of those wanting to leave the country for good.
The mum, who had been living in Canada with her kids, said the relocation to Nigeria is important for her and her children.
In a short clip, the Canada returnee, an entrepreneur, opened up about what influenced her relocation to Lagos.
Her words:
“…When I was doing the send-off dinner, my friends thought, ‘Oh, I was so extra.’ Honestly, at the back of my mind, I just knew that the kind of life that I want for myself, I can’t have in Canada.
“If I am in Canada, I am going to focus on taking care of the children. But I am too young to tie myself down as a housewife. I am an entrepreneur. I have businesses that I want to pursue. I have businesses that I am still running right now…”
The returnee mom and entrepreneur said her move is a temporary one, as she has to put her businesses and the overall well-being of her kids in place.
