A gang of suspected kidnappers reportedly entered Elyon Paradise Ministry in Ogwashiukwu, Delta State, on Friday, killed the church’s general overseer, Pastor Divine Omodia, and abducted six members.
The wife of the general overseer, Pastor Faith Omodia, recounted the awful incident, stating that the vigil service was ongoing around 10:00 PM while she was lying down with her baby when she heard sporadic gunshots that left the atmosphere petrified.
Pastor Faith revealed that there was chaos and unrest in the church, adding that her husband, the general overseer, was shot in the lap and fingers.
According to her, the attackers forced them outside, where they rounded up six of the church members, including two security guards. The kidnapped victims are Helen Onwuamaeze, Ariyo Emmanuel, Chike Okolo, Blessing Waye, and two unnamed security guards.
Supplementary reports revealed that Pastor Divine Omodia has been hospitalized, while the Delta State Police Command has not yet confirmed the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, in his report, said that no official report has been documented at any police station regarding the attack.
