Death wins again as Doyin Okupe, former Presidential Aide, succumbed after a fierce battle with cancer.
Adedoyin Ajibike Okupe was born on the 22nd of March 1952. In his lifetime, he served as a Nigerian physician and politician who co-founded the Royal Cross Medical Centre. He was the National Publicity Secretary of the National Republican Convention (NRC). During the regime of General Sani Abacha, he was detained and consequently disqualified from participating in the primary election of the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP). As time progressed, he became a governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State before his appointment as the Labour Party Presidential Spokesperson.
Doyin Okupe was said to have died at 72 on Friday after a source close to the family disclosed he had been battling cancer for as long as time itself.
In 2022, Doyin Okupe was appointed as the Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign for the 2023 general election. However, he was unseated by a court order over an alleged money laundering case.
Waves of shock have hit the friends and family of Okupe over his sudden demise, with many forwarding their tributes to his family.
We pray that the Almighty God grants his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Rest on, Doyin!
