Death strikes the nation again as Dubem Onyia, former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, reportedly dies. The titan was said to have passed away on Monday at a hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.
Onyia’s memoir saw him serving in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo after resigning from the House of Representatives in 1999 following his election as a representative.
In his lifetime, Onyia was a political figure whose service to the motherland cannot be underscored. He was a member of various corporate boards and government committees, with records of national and international recognition celebrating his indelible contributions to politics and humanity at large.
Onyia equally served as Chairman of the International Technical Commission for the National Boundary Commission, Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Joint Commission, and Chairman of the Sรฃo Tomรฉ and Prรญncipe Joint Boundary Commission.
Indeed, a Baobab has fallen. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
