Umma Getso, a former vice presidential candidate who also doubles as an activist, has expressed her concerns over Natasha’s allegations and their ripple effects.
While speaking with Channels TV journalists on Monday, the 10th of March, Getso reacted to the sexual harassment allegation that Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan leveled against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The vice presidential hopeful under the Young Progressives Party (YPP) stated that sometimes, sexual allegations from women are laced with falsehoods and self-aggrandizement with the aim of making merchandise of them.
Her words:
“Let there be justice. Let women be treated right wherever they are. However, I am very sorry to say this to a lot of women: Iโve worked with many men, both nationally and internationally, of different calibers. When I hear women say they are sexually harassed, there are many definitions of that, or we need to redefine what sexual harassment is. We have seen it in many places in the world, not only in Nigeria, where women have taken advantage of being women and raised such accusations for personal interests. If a lady sitting in the Senate, being in that position, is now crying about being sexually harassed by a man, I know a lot of men who are allowing their women to come into the political game will be a little bit scared,โ she said.
