No fewer than 30 persons suspected to be internet fraudsters have been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Asaba, Delta State.
In a statement aired on Friday, Mr. Dele Oyewale, the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, hinted that the suspects’ hideout was busted on March 14, 2025, by the Benin Zonal Directorate’s operatives.
He reiterated that the apprehension was made based on credible intelligence gathered from the suspects’ online criminal activities.
Mr. Oyewale said the operatives recovered five cars and mobile phones of different brands, which were alleged to be part of their criminal apparatus.
The statement reads as follows:
“Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, March 14, 2025, arrested 30 suspected internet fraudsters in Asaba, Delta State.
“The suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence regarding their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud. Items recovered from them at the point of arrest include five exotic cars and phones.
“The suspects will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
