Cyber enthusiasts have been tempted to draw a comparison between the late Mohbad’s father and Asake’s father over a simmering rancor that left the Afrobeat sensation publicly sharing supposed family secrets.
Ololade Asake Ahmed has taken to the media space to share his own side of the story shortly after netizens and fans accused him of abandoning his father, Mr. Fatai Odunsi, who has reportedly been suffering from a stroke since 2022.
In a cryptic song, the singer expressed his displeasure over how the world continues to bask in expectancy despite recurring efforts to pacify and satisfy them.
“You canโt please everyone, you canโt please the world; anything you are doing, just do it for God. My own father wants to cajole me even though I have always sent a lot of money to him. I have struggled for so many years, but they want to make life hard and tiring for me,” he sang in the video.”
Detailing his father’s ingratitude, Asake opened up about the house he bought for him, which was resold by his father. The Afrobeat artist also alleged that his father was involved in the practice of hiring the services of sex workers, part of what Asake’s money was spent on.
โI gave my father 100 million, bought a house for him, and he sold it. Now the world is laughing at me for ignoring him. This man wastes money like a young boy. He even carries olosho,โ Asake said.
Reacting to the development, netizens have left several comments, some commending Asake’s actions while others brutally condemned his decision to air his family’s dirty laundry in public.
One ncle_Faith101 reacted: “This is so low from Asake; is he trying to mock his father? I like the fact that he didn’t deny him in the video.”
Another user, iamclassics, said: “Do whatever you are doing for God; you canโt please humans. My father wants to cajole me. I dey press money gan; I no like stress. He canโt be a product of a single mother and expect his father to come back fully after fame; he can only be compensated for impregnating his mother.”
