The Ijaw Women aren’t in agreement with the decision of Mr. President that Rivers State should be under the watch of an Akwa-Ibomite, Retired Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas.
The leader of the Ijaw Women Group, Princess Comrade Mrs. Rosemary John-Oduone, condemned the Presidency’s decision, questioning the lawfulness of an Akwa Ibomite presiding over the affairs of Rivers State.
In a press briefing, Mrs. John-Oduone informed journalists of the political odyssey of Rivers State’s former Governor Nyesom Wike. Asking audaciously, she said:
“Who made Wike? And I ask again, who made him?”
John-Oduone cited that an Ijaw man, in the person of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, in connection with his wife, Patience Jonathan, literally held Wike by the hands as godparents until his final political breakthrough up onto the point of being appointed FCT Minister.
Oduone stated that the presidency’s act of bringing an Akwa Ibom man to rule over Rivers State won’t be effective.
“It will not work, it will not work. Don’t touch me, it will not work.”
In a passionate appeal, the Ijaw women have urged the federal government to seek permanent solutions, emphasizing the need for governance that respects the region’s political history and cultural diversity.
