Duty-ready Retired Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas has confirmed the receipt of Rivers State’s much-anticipated allocation, declaring that measures are already in place to ensure that workers are paid without further delay.
Vice Admiral Ibas said in a meeting with the Heads of Local Government Administrators in Port Harcourt that the gathering is sacrosanct in the restoration of peace and political stability in the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Ibas decried the hardship in the Niger Delta despite its oil richness.
Regarding the released funds and payment of workers’ salaries, Administrator Ibas sympathized with affected workers, stating that measures are in place to enforce proper accountability of the payment of the withheld salaries.
In the same vein, Ibas has sent a directive across all local governments demanding the submission of their wage bills, alongside corroborative relevant documentation, through the office of the Head of Service.
The former Chief of Naval Staff said there will be enforcement of proper scrutiny of funds disbursed, as he will not handle any form of mismanagement and misappropriation with kid gloves.
The administrator also commented on the importance of collaboration with traditional rulers and security agencies in ensuring the much-desired peacefulness in the state.
โYou must take the lead in ensuring security within your domains,โ he admonished the local government administrators.
