
Men of the Gombe State Police Command have arrested 28-year-old Hannatu Ibrahim for alleged theft and arson.
According to reports, Ibrahim, who worked as a cook, stole $35,000 (N53,495,400) from her Syrian employer, Mohammed Jurdi, in the New GRA neighborhood of Gombe before setting his house ablaze.
Confirming the arrest, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, issued a statement on Wednesday, March 26, detailing the incident.
“On 22/03/2025, at about 2000hrs, a distress call was received from New GRA Gombe, behind Legislative Quarters, reporting that the suspect, who was a cook to Mohammed Jurdi, a Syrian attached to Triacter Nigeria Limited, had stolen the sum of $35,000 and set his house on fire.”
Following the report, a police patrol team from the Gombe Division swiftly responded and arrested the prime suspect, Hannatu Ibrahim.
During the investigation, Ibrahim was found in possession of $7,100. She also implicated a second suspect, Ahmed Adamu, 20, who allegedly took $200 from the stolen sum. A $100 bill was later found in his wallet, leading to his arrest.
A third suspect, Abubakar Ibrahim, the security guard of the victim, was also arrested in connection to the crime.

2. $100 from the second suspect (Ahmed Adamu)
Authorities have confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
