President Tinubu has broken his silence on the lynching of innocent traveling hunters in the Uromi community of Esan North Local Government in Edo State.
The travelers were said to have been intercepted by the Vigilante Group in Edo State, who mislabeled their hunting guns as kidnapper’s ammunition.
The gruesome murder has gained traction since Thursday, sparking outrage among many who have condemned the dastardly act.
President Bola Tinubu, who also expressed shock at the extrajudicial killing, has issued directives to the police and other security agencies to launch a swift and comprehensive investigation, and to administer due punishment to the perpetrators.
The president, in his speech, commended Governor Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, and community leaders in Uromi for their swiftness in notifying the necessary bodies.
The president expressed sympathy with the families of the deceased, assuring them that those responsible for the extrajudicial killing will face justice.
He also urged communities to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that jungle justice has no place in the country.
