
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Iyayi Omokaro, for allegedly murdering his elder brother, Friday Omokaro, in Uzalla Community, Edo State.
According to a statement by the police spokesperson, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, following a heated argument between the two siblings. In a fit of rage, Iyayi allegedly attacked Friday with a cutlass, inflicting fatal wounds.
“At about 3:30 PM on March 25, a report was received from a camp in Uzalla Community regarding the killing of one Friday Omokaro, 38 years old. Ahor Police Operatives and local vigilantes responded swiftly, recovering the victim and transporting him to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The murder weapon was also retrieved from the scene,” Yamu stated.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the argument escalated into a physical altercation, leading Iyayi to fatally hack his elder brother. The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody. He will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
The Edo State Police Command has urged residents to resolve conflicts peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
