Lady Helen Owie, the wife of former Senate Chief Whip Rowland Owie, is dead.
Lady Helen’s passing was disclosed by her husband via a released statement on Wednesday, 9th 2025.
The statement revealed that the deceased passed away in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the age of 71 after battling a brief illness.
Former Senator Rowland Owie, in a statement, recounted their over five-decade union, labeling his late wife as a great resource manager and devoted mother.
He reflected on the uncanny love she showed towards his mother and other family members, noting that she had been his pillar, peace, and partner for years.

“When Helen came into my life over five decades ago, she lovingly made our home a safe space. She united my family and treated my late mother, Aghatise Owie, who delivered 11 children for my father of whom I am the only surviving child with the deepest compassion and honour.
โShe showed unwavering love to my family members and friends, and through her faith, strength, and grace, held us all together.”
Until her death, Lady Helen is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and others too numerous to count whose lives she had touched with her large heart, magnanimity, love, and humility.
