Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has responded to the petition from Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio.
On the 3rd of April, Akpabio wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetekun, labeling Natasha a heinous liar over her revelation of an ongoing assassination plot to be orchestrated by him (Akpabio) and the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, during her April 1st homecoming to her constituency.
Natasha, however, has responded to the petition, which was also copied to the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
Through her legal counsel, Victor Giwa, she maintained that her statements were neither intended to incite civil unrest nor part of a political game plan, but rather a desperate clarion call to Nigerians for help.
During the homecoming, Natasha exposed the alleged ongoing assassination plot and added that the gamemasters, which included Akpabio and Yahaya, had thought out a twisted plot for her to be killed in Kogi State, making it look as if her constituents were responsible for the act.
This allegation was heavily debunked by the Senate President, with citations that it was geared towards denting his political image and career. Natasha clapped back, saying her statements were a cry for help.
In the same vein, her counsel, Victor Giwa, expressed displeasure over the lack of security and danger his client, Natasha, is exposed to. Victor Giwa said the Senate President erred in removing Natasha’s security, despite her status as a politically exposed individual.
“Your are aware that the Senate President ordered the withdrawal of her security. If somebody has committed gross misconduct, what has that got to do with the withdrawal of her security?
โI mean, you say sheโs not going to the office, okay fine, I mean, you donโt need the security to enter the office.
โYou did stop her from coming to carry out her legislative duty as a senator but she has her life outside the Senate complex. And sheโs a politically exposed person and you ordered her security details to be withdrawn!โ
