Ghanaian star Wendy Shay awarded a scholarship to Tracy, a young girl from Ridoana Comprehensive School, after a video clip of her went viral.
The young girl became an internet sensation shortly after a video of her dancing passionately to Wendy Shay’s “Too Late” surfaced online.
Wendy Shay had performed at the All Ashaiman Schools Festival, where she sang one of her songs, “Too Late.” During the performance, the girl identified as Tracy attended the show and displayed her beautiful dance moves.
Wendy Shay, who was elated and amazed by the little girl’s steps, called her on stage to co-perform with her.
The video, which captured the impressive dance moves of the little girl, generated criticism from some who claimed her moves, dress sense, and facial expressions were sexually suggestive and inappropriate for a minor like herself.
It was gathered and confirmed by Wendy Shay herself that the video broke the internet, with the song gaining increased views daily.
Wendy Shay, who saw nothing but talent on display, had taken a bold step to hush Tracy’s critics by rewarding her.
In a show of appreciation, Wendy Shay stormed Tracy’s school, Ridoana Comprehensive School, with goods such as a school bag, drinks, an undisclosed amount of cash, amongst many others. The icing on the cake was, however, a scholarship awarded to Tracy by Wendy Shay from Form Five to the University Level.
Her words:
“About a week ago, I came here to this school, to perform and during my performance there was this talented beautiful shining star, dancing and singing passionately to my song ‘Too Late.’ The video gained so much attention and it’s still trending so I am here today to say thank you and reward my little star, my shining star Tracy.
To show my appreciation to you, I have decided that I am going to sponsor your education which is school fees from Class 5 to the university,” Wendy says in the video.”
