The Caretaker Committee of the Ondo State People’s Democratic Party has asked that the Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, who recently tendered his resignation, reconsider his decision.
This came after the state chairman, Bakkita Bello (PhD), in the company of others, visited Peretei at his residence in Akure on Friday, where they had a lengthy conversation to that effect.
In the meeting were eminent members of the Caretaker Committee, such as the women leader, Princess Kemi Adesanya; the state youth leader, Comrade Babatunde Daodu; the state financial secretary, Boluwaji Bamidele; the state organizing secretary, Engr. Dare Akinwale; and the Ondo State Central Senatorial women leader, Mrs. Mercy Akinlami.
Peretei had mentioned the reason for his resignation, noting betrayals and disappointments from the people he had huge regard for.
Dr. Bakkita, in his speech, stated it was rational for Peretei to feel offended over the recent conduct of some party members.
Detailing his speech in a statement signed by Leye Igbabo, the party’s Director of Media And Publicity, Ondo State chapter on Friday, Bakkita said:
“But you must also understand as an experienced politician that a combination of factors are always responsible for any particular action or resolution of a political party.”
“You are a true party man and the reason we have come to make you change your mind. You have to rescind your decision to quit the party because we are not accepting your resignation letter.”
