Natasha, in response to Akpabio’s defamation and incitement claim, has requested that the IG of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, dismiss Akpabio’s petition, as it is a well-scripted hypocrisy to avoid being probed.
Natasha expressed, through a statement released by her legal counsel, Victor Giwa, that the Senate President be well investigated on the allegations of threats to her life.
On the 3rd of April, Akpabio had filed a petition to the IG of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, wherein he mentioned that the senator, currently serving a six-month suspension, had alleged he was involved in an assassination plot to eliminate her.
Akpabio labeled Natasha’s allegations as heinous lies that were fabricated to tarnish his persona and political career.
Responding in a statement released on Saturday through her legal counsel, Victor Giwa, Natasha expressed that Akpabio’s action is an attempt to preempt investigations into his alleged role in a plot to harm her by raising counter-allegations involving public incitement and defamation.
She stated that the petition submitted to the Inspector General of Police by Akpabio is a gimmick employed to divert attention from the pressing issue of her being probed and concerns over her personal safety.
โWe remain counsel for Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, hereafter known as our client. Our attention has been drawn to the news-making round that Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a petition against our client, distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, alleging Incitement of the public against his person.
“It is our clientโs position that the Senate President should submit himself for a full investigation to security agents before any allegation of incitement against him.
“The Senate President is a โprincipal suspectโ in the case of a threat to the life of the distinguished Senator Natasha, whose securities have been withdrawn illegally at the instruction of the Senate president.โ
She further maintained that until Akpabio has been probed and declared guiltless before his petition can be given required attention.
“We, therefore, call on the Senate President to submit himself to full investigation rather than divert the attention of the security agents through a bubble petition.
โIt is only when the investigation has been concluded, and the allegation has been shown to be false, that the issue of incitement and false allegation against Senator Natasha can be entertained.
โWe therefore call on the Inspector General of Police to discontinue the Senate presidentโs Petition as being diversionary and prejudicing of investigation,โ it added.
