The lead pastor of Celebration Church International, Pastor Emmanuel Aniefiok Iren, has revealed the most uncommon reason he has decided to change his mobile number biennially.
The clergy, during a sermon, expressed that some folks are fond of trivializing relationships, making an instance from an event that happened to him years back.
Pastor Iren narrated that a random person had called him from the Ikotun Ekpe area, and upon answering, the caller on the other end said he called just to let his friends know he is familiar with him.
Excerpt:
“Some people try to reach out to me, and in trying to reach out to me, they try to commonise what God is doing in my life now because they knew me those days. “Someone called me from Ikotun Ekpe (laughs). True life story. Just randomly o…Called me. That’s how I’ve started changing my number every two years because of things like that.
“How are you? Fine. How’s everything? Fine. Can I help you? He said no. “I just called so my friends will know I know you”. “I said, ‘Wow!’ Nice one (laughs). Don’t trivialise relationships…”
The pastor’s instance was a harmless approach to drive home a valid point about people valuing relationships and seeing them beyond a braggadocio measure.
The internet has, however, received the message with mixed feelings, with some lashing out at him by implying a notion of pride on his part.
Flooding the comments with sour hot takes, some have alleged that he has been recruited into the fold of men of God who display a hyperbolized sense of self worth.
