Presidential hopeful Atiku Abubakar has called out the issues characterized by the Tinubu-led administration.
The 2023 PDP frontline candidate, as a result of the ongoing violence in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of the country, expressed his frustration with the president, noting his incapabilities and incompetence in addressing the situation.
Responding to the numerous lives lost in the attacks on Gbagir communities in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, Atiku Abubakar summarized his grievances to the president via a post on X on Saturday, where he described his actions thus far as โdisturbing indifferenceโ and a lack of empathetic leadership amidst the turbulence the country is facing.
Atiku bemoaned the plight of Nigerians who now live in fear and irrational panic amidst the precarious conditions while the president flourishes on his vacation in France.
Atiku furthered on to note that leaders in time past have canceled far more important appointments to travel back to the country to address salient issues that involved the lives of citizens, a move he had hoped the president would emulate.
His words:
“The Tinubu administration has proven, time and again, to be utterly incapable, wholly incompetent, and completely devoid of any coherent ideas for tackling Nigeriaโs deepening security crisis.”
“In our own history, President Goodluck Jonathan returned from Equatorial Guinea in 2014 following a deadly bomb blast in Abuja. That is the expected minimum in moments of national trauma.”
“Yet President Bola Tinubu, incapable of solving Nigeriaโs worsening insecurity, chooses instead to gallivant across Europe โ governing Nigeria in absentia as if from a holiday perch.โ
Expressing concerns over the recent Gbagir killings, Atiku stated that aside security, Nigeria needs a president who can be physically and emotionally available.
“If Tinubu cannot act, the least he can do is show up. If he cannot lead with empathy, he should at least attempt the performance of it. Nigeria is bleeding. Nigerians are dying. The president is nowhere to be found.”
โAn inept administration may not suddenly discover competence. But we will not stop calling it out,โ he said. โIf Tinubu cannot deliver safety and dignity to Nigerians, the very least he can do is pretend to care โ regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.โ
He further extends his condolence to the families of the bereaved.
