Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, best known as VeryDarkMan, has been ensnared in a big mess following the All Progressives Congress’s issuance of a 7-day deadline for him to tender an apology over his criticism of Akpabio’s Vatican trip in honour of the late Pope Francis.
VeryDarkMan, in a viral video, faulted the Senate President’s move to attend the Pope’s funeral, citing that there are more pressing issues, like the nation’s insecurity, to attend to.
He suggested in his video that Akpabio should have paid condolence visits to states like Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, Enugu, and other states currently affected by the staggering insecurity in the country.
VeryDarkMan stirred the hornet’s nest when he noted that the Senate President does not possess the moral standard to attend the Popeโs funeral when he, in fact, should be in the country consoling communities affected by the violence.
Responding to VeryDarkMan’s verbal outburst, the South-South Zonal Chapter of the APC on Sunday however gave the activist one week to tender an apology to Godswill Obot Akpabio.
The warning reads as follows:
VeryDarkMan is becoming notorious for blackmail, slander, and character assassination while pretending to be an advocate for the masses and a social crusader.
โThe unwarranted verbal attack on the number three citizen of Nigeria, who did not send himself to Rome but was duly nominated by the President to lead a delegation to represent Nigeria โ what exactly is wrong with that?
โUpon his return from France and the UK, Tinubu met with the security chiefs, and during the meeting, he gave them marching orders to ensure that a different approach is deployed in the fight against insecurity. Does this sound like a man who is not serious about protecting the lives and property of Nigerians?โ
Speaking further, he noted that the Senate President didn’t attend the Pope’s funeral of his own accord, but rather was on an official assignment as assigned by the president.
He emphasized that the Senate President led a delegation of other stalwarts comprising of five members, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu; President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji; Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah; and Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Ignatius Ayua Kaigama.
