
A 16-year-old boy, Solomon Ibiwoye, has been arrested by the police in Lagos for unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to reports by *Daily Report Nigeria*, the teenager was spotted brandishing a pistol in the Ebute-Ero area of Lagos State. Concerned residents, acting swiftly, discreetly alerted the police at the Ebute-Ero Division.
Responding promptly, officers tracked and apprehended the suspect. A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of a locally made pistol.
Confirming the arrest via his official X (formerly Twitter) page, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, praised the vigilance of the citizens.
“Kudos to observant Lagosians who noticed 16-year-old Solomon Ibiwoye with a firearm and discreetly alerted Ebute-Ero Police Division,” Hundeyin wrote.
He added, “One more firearm off the streets. See something, say something!”
The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing as part of efforts to rid Lagos streets of illegal weapons.
