A farmer in Nasarawa State has been left heartbroken after discovering that his cassava farm was destroyed and looted by suspected herdsmen.
The incident occurred in Kokona Local Government Area, where the farmer, Idris Salisu Danwanzan, returned to his farmland after a month-long break only to find it completely ravaged.
Sharing his anguish in a Facebook post, Danwanzan wrote:
**“You’d be surprised if I told you that this was once my cassava farm. After a month away, this is what I came back to. I can’t even begin to estimate how much I’ve invested. Any herdsmen responsible for this—Allah sai yasaka mini [may God repay them].”**
It was gathered that a group of herdsmen allegedly invaded the farm, destroying large portions of the cultivated land while also making away with crops. Although the full extent of the damage is yet to be officially assessed, Danwanzan lamented that the losses run into hundreds of thousands of naira.
The incident adds to the growing concerns over recurring clashes between farmers and herders in Nigeria, with many rural farmers bearing the brunt of such invasions.
