Senate President Godswill Akpabio has initiated fresh legal action against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of defying a court order and mocking him through a viral social media post.
The lawsuit, marked as **Case No: FHC/ABJ/CS/384/25**, was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Akpabio is requesting a judicial directive compelling Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete the contentious post from all her social media accounts and issue a formal apology through at least two national newspapers.
The post, published on April 27 via her verified Facebook page, features a satirical “apology” in which the senator sarcastically expressed regret for “maintaining dignity and self-respect in the Senate.” The post quickly gained traction online, drawing public reactions and media attention.
Representing Akpabio, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Kehinde Ogunwumiju argued that the post not only ridiculed the Senate President but also violated a prior court order barring both parties from making public statements concerning their ongoing legal battle.

In addition to the retraction and public apology, Akpabio is also demanding an affidavit from Akpoti-Uduaghan to confirm full compliance with the court’s directive.
The legal rift between the two lawmakers stems from a dramatic incident in February, involving a dispute over seating arrangements in the Senate chamber. The clash escalated when Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of sexual harassment—a claim that led to her suspension from the Senate in March.
As tensions continue to rise, political watchers are closely monitoring the outcome of the court proceedings, which could further influence dynamics within the upper legislative chamber.
