A 19-year-old in Anambra State has reportedly done the unthinkable after stabbing her newborn in the neck with a knife following delivery.
Authorities who swung into action to salvage the situation reported that both the mother and her newborn son are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
From facts gathered, it was disclosed that the young woman, who had concealed her pregnancy from her family, gave birth alone at home in Anambra on May 22.
The young woman, upon delivery of the baby with no one else around, allegedly inflicted a wound on the baby’s throat and placed him in a gutter.
A witness to the dumping scene, who happened to be a child, raised an alarm, prompting nearby residents to rescue the baby and trace the mother.
They found the young woman at home, bleeding. Both she and the newborn were rushed to the hospital.
