Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, former Minister of Environment, has officially stepped down from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to intensify.
His departure has caused unease within the APC in the state due to his considerable influence and loyal base
Abdullahi, who served in President Muhammadu Buhariโs administration, submitted his resignation letter on June 1 to the APC chairman of his Uke ward in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
He also addressed the letter to other party leaders, citing personal reasons for his departure.
A close ally, Mr. Samuel Akala, confirmed the development to journalists in Lafia, suggesting that Abdullahi may soon align with another political party and potentially contest for the governorship of Nasarawa State in the coming elections.
In his resignation letter, Abdullahi expressed gratitude to the APC for the support and opportunities provided during his time with the party and extended his best wishes for its future.
A prominent figure in Nasarawa politics, Abdullahi previously held the position of Secretary to the State Government under former Governor Tanko Almakura.
