Nigerians have aired speculations that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, might be looking to defect from the People’s Democratic Party to the opposition party, All Progressives Congress.
The ongoing speculation arose after President Tinubu reportedly hosted the Adelekes: Governor Adeleke, Nigerian music star David Adeleke a.k.a. Davido, and Davidoโs father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, at his Lagos residence on Tuesday, May 3, 2025.
Governor Adeleke has, however, dismissed such speculation, noting through his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, that he remains committed to the party and its precepts, further describing the media’s speculations as unfounded and baseless.

“The media speculation about likely or imminent defection is fake news. Governor Adeleke remains a member and leader of the PDP in Osun State. The visit by the Adeleke dynasty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a routine courtesy visit. Any reading of defection agenda into the visit is mere fake news,โ Rasheed clarified.
