A farmer, identified as Baba Yakubu, has been hacked to death by suspected herders at Mai Kwari village in the Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
A relative of the deceased, Danjuma Ishaku, said the incident happened on Thursday while he was working on his farm.
He said trouble started when some herders moved their animals into a cassava farm and the deceased rushed to question one of them for allowing cows into his farm. He said the herders ignored him and the farmer used his cutlass to hit one of the cows.
He said that, thereafter, one of the herders pulled out a cutlass and stabbed the farmer.
According to him, one of the deceased’s sons escaped to report the incident.
He said the deceased was rushed to Kwaita Clinic, where he was confirmed dead.
Police in the area confirmed the incident.
