The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has issued a stern warning to all personnel under his command regarding the enforcement of the Delta State Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, particularly as it concerns cases of indecent dressing.
In a firm statement, CP Abaniwonda cautioned that any officer who sees the enforcement of the law as an opportunity to extort or harass residents will face immediate disciplinary action — including possible dismissal from the force.
He emphasized that the VAPP Law is designed to protect citizens and promote decency, not to serve as a tool for exploitation or abuse of power.
To ensure accountability and transparency, the Commissioner urged members of the public to report any misconduct or abuse by officers via WhatsApp on the official complaint line: 090111112311.
