In a notice of legal action dated July 16, 2025, and addressed to Mrs. Ayodele through his counsel, M. A. Daramola of Octodas Attorneys, Akindamola demanded a public retraction of the alleged defamatory statements, a formal apology, and compensation in the sum of N20 million.
A former President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at the College of Nursing Science, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Mr. Ibitola Akindamola, has threatened legal action against the institution’s Students Affairs Officer (SAO), Mrs. Adaramola Bukola Ayodele, over alleged defamation and false accusations.
A copy of the notice, obtained by SaharaReporters, outlines the former SUG president’s position that the SAO’s comments have damaged his reputation and caused significant emotional and professional harm.
Akindamola said that Mrs. Ayodele “has been maliciously spreading inaccurate, untrue, reckless, inflammatory, defamatory and unfounded information” to damage his reputation and character.
According to him, some of the defamatory statements made by Mrs. Ayodele include an allegation that he embezzled money from the College’s SUG account when he was the president.
Akindamola alleged that Mrs. Ayodele said he “did jargon and rubbish” and that “he was not okay, thought he was smart.”
He also alleged that Mrs. Ayodele said that the School Alumni President should not send him to the school again, that “he is a man of questionable character, he does not have a good name because he stole over N2,000,000 from the SUG fund.”
Akindamola said in the statement that the Students Affairs Officer described him as “a dubious personality.”
Akindamola’s legal representative noted, “These statements are defamatory of the character of our client who is a law-abiding citizen, a responsible professional and perfect gentleman.”
The lawyer said, “Apart from the defamatory nature of the statements, there is no justification for the statements which are unconscionable, preposterous, horrendous and laced with pathological falsehood.
“These statements have since been given wide publicity among the former students of the school, where our client has been playing a prominent role as an active alumnus.
“Apart from the former students from the school, our client has continued to receive calls from within and outside Ekiti state who heard the defamatory statements and wanted to know the truth.
“A situation that has made him develop insomnia was when he was confronted by a colleague to that effect.”
The lawyer stated that by the said defamatory statements, Akindamola “has been exposed to odium, public ridicule and treated like an objectionable character by close associates who are gradually avoiding him.”
He said Akindamola “is flabbergasted that such uncanny and unbridled statements can flow from a supposedly fountain of wisdom that qualifies you for the position you are occupying.”
According to him, Akindamola believes that the defamatory statements “were not motivated by loss of memory but rather a deliberate act designed to hoodwink him that he is not worthy of public office occupied as a nurse.”
He said that Mrs. Ayodele’s statements have continued to cause Akindamola psychological and emotional disorder because of the deluge of inquiries by people across all walks of life.
He noted that the development has altered Akindamola’s state of health and public image and his family are impacted negatively because of the opprobrium created by the said statements.
“Our client is a lover of peace, hence our specific instruction is to extend the olive branch to you of the opportunity of making amends through a letter of apology,” the lawyer stated.
“The letter which must be addressed to our client must also be published in two national dailies and the media houses in Ekiti State.”
The lawyer added, “Apart from this, you are to pay the sum of Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000.00) as compensation for the defamation caused our client, through this law office.
“Take note and notice is hereby given that you are to comply with this humble demand within Fourteen (14) days of the receipt of this letter.
“Take further notice that if you fail, refuse or neglect to accede to this humble reconciliatory request, our client will not hesitate to institute a legal action against you for the redress of the damage and onslaught to his character.”
This comes a few months after SaharaReporters reported in April 2025 how students of the same College cried out over Mrs. Ayodele’s systemic bullying, verbal abuse, invasion of privacy, and suppression of their rights.
They lamented that the disturbing pattern of behaviour persisted for months, with little to no intervention from the school’s management.
Several students reported being physically assaulted by Mrs. Ayodele, with multiple victims recounting instances of being slapped or bullied by the SAO.
Unfortunately, despite numerous complaints and outcries for help, the students told SaharaReporters that their pleas were ignored by authorities within and outside the institution.
When contacted for comments, Mrs. Ayodele said, “Kindly contact the management for details about the withdrawal of N2 million only from the SUG sports account during the tenure of Mr. Ibitola because the issue was referred to a panel of enquiry.”
“Mr Ibitola will be contacted as requested by his lawyer,” she added.
