Top figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Monday, arrived in Kano State ahead of the anticipated defection of former governor of the State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the party.
Among the ADC bigwigs, who had already arrived in Kano for the event, include former Senate President and party’s national chairman, David Mark; former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Ministerof Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Senator Dino Melaye, and for APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.They were received at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) by the immediate-past Kano State deputy governor, Aminu Abdussalam.

A large crowd of supporters and political loyalists had, as of Monday morning, thronged Kwankwaso’s private residence along Miller Road in Kano, where the defection event is scheduled to take place. The atmosphere was charged, with supporters chanting slogans and displaying party colours in anticipation of the formal announcement.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso is currently holding a closed-door caucus meeting with key figures of the Kwankwasiyya movement, including Kano Central Senator, Rufa’i Sani Hanga and State chairman of his former party, NNPP, Dr Hashim Dungurawa, as consultations intensified ahead of the expected declaration for ADC.
