Ambassador-designate to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode has laughed off reports of his purported rejection by the European nation.
In an X post on Monday, Fani-Kayode attributed the “fake news” to his political opponents who were “pained” by his appointment.
He said, “Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not I will serve my country! Keep crying!”
On March 6, the presidency announced that President Bola Tinubu had approved the posting of ambassadors to various diplomatic outposts, with Fani-Kayode posted to Germany.
An online newspaper reported that Germany rejected Fani-Kayode’s posting on March 13.
His rejection was reportedly linked to “rabid ethnic and religious slurs”.
