President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Benue State in the wake of the recent violent attack on the Yelewata community, which left several people dead and many others injured.
His visit comes as part of a federal response aimed at assessing the situation firsthand and showing solidarity with the victims and residents affected by the tragic incident.
Upon his arrival, the President proceeded directly to a local hospital where many of the wounded are currently receiving medical attention.
He moved from bed to bed, taking time to speak with several survivors of the attack. According to footage released from the visit, President Tinubu listened attentively as victims shared their harrowing experiences. He also offered words of comfort and assured them that the federal government would not abandon them in this difficult time.
The Presidentโs itinerary includes a visit to Yelewata itself, where he is expected to meet with families of those who lost their lives as well as displaced residents currently taking refuge in temporary shelters.
The visit is intended not only to offer emotional support but also to gather insights into the immediate needs of the affected communities, as federal and state authorities coordinate efforts to provide relief and restore security.
Following his engagements in Yelewata, President Tinubu is scheduled to proceed to the Government House in Makurdi, the Benue State capital. There, he will participate in a town hall meeting and engage in discussions with key stakeholders, including community leaders, security officials, and humanitarian organizations.
The forum will focus on strategies to prevent future attacks, improve regional security, and support long-term recovery efforts for victims and displaced persons.
