Head Coach Justine Madugu has named a 24-player squad for the 13th Womenโs Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The 24-player squad includes captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and forwards Francisca Ordega and Asisat Oshoala.
The selected players will represent the Super Falcons as they aim for a record-extending 10th continental title at WAFCON as the tournament itself will take place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26.
A portion of the squad began training in Abuja on Thursday, with sessions also scheduled for Friday and Saturday, before the team departs for their final training camp in Lisbon, Portugal, on Sunday.
Other notable call-ups include Saudi Arabia-based defender Ashleigh Plumptre, U.S.-based fan favourite Michelle Alozie, veteran defender Osinachi Ohale, and midfielders Deborah Abiodun, Jennifer Echegini, and Christy Ucheibe.
Also included are home-based goalkeeper Rachael Unachukwu and defenders Sikiratu Isah and Miracle Usani, while midfield anchor Halimatu Ayinde returns to the squad.
To prepare for their WAFCON Group B fixtures against Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has arranged friendly matches against the senior womenโs national teams of Portugal and Ghana.
The Falcons will face Portugal in Lisbon on Monday, followed by a match against Ghanaโs Black Queens in Morocco on Sunday, June 29.
