A disturbing incident occurred on February 12, 2025, at Angel’s Primary School, Awka, Anambra State, where Rev. Father Jude Muokwe, the school’s manager was reported to have allegedly assaulted Mrs. Maureen Ikeorah, a widow and Primary 6 teacher.
The altercation began when Mrs. Ikeorah expressed her concerns about the recurring deduction of teachers’ salaries, which she claimed violated the terms of an earlier agreement regarding pupil lesson fees. Rev. Father Muokwe, a Catholic Priest allegedly felt insulted and physically attacked Mrs. Ikeorah during school hours, before staff and pupils alike.
Photographs taken after the incident show visible cane marks on Mrs. Ikeorah’s skin, revealing the severity of the abuse.
Reacting to the disturbing news, netizens have taken to their social media handles to call out Anambra State’s Ministry of Education, as well as the Catholic Church of Awka Diocese, to ensure that a deserving reprimand is given to the erring priest.
