It seems the lingering repercussions of the misdeeds of yesteryears by General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida are finally teaming up with karma, as Human Rights Activist Femi Falana has threatened a lawsuit against the former general.
The lawsuit was preceded by a series of outrageous confessions made by General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in his memoir “A Journey to Service.”
Recall that during the book launch, the memoir was reviewed by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and it was stated that the former leader admitted that the 1993 election (considered Nigeriaโs most credible) was won by the late Moshood Abiola, a revelation that has sparked outrage and bloodless unrest in the country.
In response, Femi Falana, who was jailed for actively protesting against IBB’s annulment, accused the former military head of state of prosecution with malicious intent.
The activist revealed on Channels Television that he and his team of learned counsels have swung into action to legally challenge the past misdeeds of the leader that led to a lot of bloodshed and high death tolls.
His words:
“Iโve assembled a team of lawyers; theyโre looking into it,โ Falana declared.
โHe [Babangida] has now admitted there was no basis for my prosecution because he now says Abiola won the election, which was the basis for our protest. It was malicious.โ
โKeeping me in Kuje prison denied me my right to liberty, my freedom of movement, and my right to choose my government. The man who did this has just come out to say, โI did it wrongly,'”
