Glory Agbor, wife of Dickson Agbor, the lawmaker representing Obubra I state constituency in the Cross River state house of assembly, has refuted claims that her husband physically assaulted her.
The controversy erupted after a video circulated online showing a visibly injured Glory, allegedly beaten by her husband during a domestic dispute.
The footage quickly sparked widespread outrage and drew public attention to the lawmaker’s conduct.
In response to the incident, the Cross River state house of assembly placed Dickson on indefinite suspension over what it described as violent behaviour.
But in a new video released on social media, Glory dismissed the allegations, calling them “baseless”.
She said no such incident occurred and suggested that the original viral video may have been fabricated.
According to her, the footage could have been generated or altered using artificial intelligence as part of a smear campaign aimed at damaging her husband’s reputation ahead of upcoming political activities.
“I am out here to tell Nigerians and all persons both home and abroad that what has been online for the past four to three days is a false accusation and nothing of such actually happened,” she said.
“Maybe it is AI, or they want to use that to blackmail me and my husband. You know the election is around the corner, and maybe they want to use that one to bring him down. Nothing of the sort happened to me.
“Look at me, I am okay, I am good. Did you see any mark on my face or anything of such? Nothing of such ever happened.”
