In yet another tragic incident stemming from the ongoing violence in parts of Nigeria, two brothers have been killed by suspected gunmen in Taraba State.
The victims, identified as Mr. Amasandi Moses Bulus and Mr. Mikhinma Moses Basungyu—both students of the Federal University Wukari—were reportedly attacked and killed while on their way to the farm in the early hours of Friday, April 4, 2025.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Wukari Local Government Area and Vice-Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, Honourable Dauda Agbu Samaila, expressed his deep condolences through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Comrade Ibrahim Audu Angyu.
In a statement, Comrade Angyu attributed the attack to Tiv militias, stating it occurred at the Wapan Nghaku area, within the Hospital Ward of Wukari LGA.
“This tragic incident claimed the lives of two promising young men who were simply tending to their farm,” the statement read. “Chairman Samaila extends his heartfelt sympathies to the Basungyu family and the entire people of Wukari Local Government Area. He prays for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and for strength for their loved ones during this painful time.”
The chairman further noted that this attack is part of a broader pattern of violence tied to the long-standing Jukun-Tiv crisis, which continues to destabilize communities in the region. He reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing peace-building efforts and reconciliation initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace in Wukari and its environs.
