Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command following allegations of criminal defamation and threats against renowned Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest was initiated after Osupa filed a formal petition accusing Portable of engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, including the use of abusive and insulting language directed at him.
The police secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin, leading to Portable’s apprehension in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, at approximately 7:25 p.m. He was subsequently transported to Ilorin for further investigation.
This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing feud between Portable and Osupa, which has played out publicly over the past few weeks. The tension escalated on social media, with Portable allegedly making defamatory remarks and threats towards the Fuji legend.
In response to the arrest, Portable has reportedly pleaded for leniency, expressing remorse and requesting that Osupa forgive him.
As of now, Portable remains in police custody, with arrangements underway to charge him formally in court. The Kwara State Police Command has urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow due process to take its course.
This development has sparked widespread discussion within the Nigerian entertainment industry, highlighting the consequences of public disputes escalating into legal battles.
