The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering resolve to hold all corrupt individuals accountable—regardless of their political affiliation.
In a recent interview on Channels Television, Olukoyede underscored the EFCC’s commitment to impartial justice, noting that the Commission’s operations are strictly guided by its legal mandate to investigate and prosecute financial crimes.
“Our duty is clear: if someone is found to have engaged in corrupt practices or financial crimes, we will investigate. If there’s sufficient evidence, we will prosecute,” he asserted.
Addressing claims of selective justice, Olukoyede emphasized that many of the EFCC’s ongoing high-profile investigations involve members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He stressed that the Commission does not shield any political group or individual.
“If Nigerians objectively review our work, they will see that a significant number of those under investigation or prosecution for corruption are from the APC. We do not discriminate,” he said.
He further stated that the Commission’s stance is consistent across the political spectrum.
“Whether you belong to the APC, PDP, Labour Party, NNPP, or SDP—if you steal public funds, you will be held accountable,” he declared. “There are no sacred cows. The law applies to everyone equally.”
Olukoyede’s strong message comes as the EFCC continues to face public scrutiny over the perceived politicization of anti-corruption efforts. His latest remarks aim to reinforce public confidence in the agency’s neutrality and dedication to justice.
