Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has extended heartfelt condolences to the governments and people of Kano and Niger States following two recent tragedies: a road accident that claimed the lives of 22 young athletes from Kano and a devastating flood in Mokwa, Niger State.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda described the Mokwa flooding as a tragic catastrophe that has inflicted significant hardship on the affected communities.
He assured Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and the people of Niger State of Katsinaโs solidarity and support, while expressing sympathy to the bereaved families and all those affected.
He further emphasized the urgent need to strengthen flood management and disaster preparedness measures, particularly in Northern Nigeria as the rainy season approaches.
In a separate condolence message, Governor Radda expressed profound grief over the fatal accident that took the lives of 22 athletes and officials from Kano State as they returned from the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Calling it a tremendous loss for the nationโs sporting community, he noted that the young athletes embodied the aspirations of their families, their state, and the country.
On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, Governor Radda conveyed sincere sympathies to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the bereaved families, and the entire Kano sporting fraternity.
He also offered prayers for the souls of the departed and comfort for their grieving loved ones.

“The news of the Mokwa flood disaster deeply grieves us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this unfortunate incident,โ the Governor said, emphasizing the need for collective solidarity during such difficult times.”
“This painful loss has left the entire nation in mourning. The lives of these promising young athletes were cut short in their prime, leaving an irreplaceable void in our hearts,โ he mentioned.
