The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has applauded President Tinubu for the approval of 67 new tertiary institutions across the federation from 2024 to 2025.
Prof. Oloyede disclosed in a statement that the presidency’s approval of the institutions reflects his commitment to ensuring that there is access to quality education for all.
The institutions approved are as follows: 22 new universities, 33 new polytechnics and monotechnics, and 12 new colleges of education across the federation.
The JAMB Registrar, Professor Oloyede, in a meeting with the officers of the newly approved institutions in Abuja, reiterated the body’s policy that there will be no loopholes for illegal admissions.
He further expressed that the body will not entertain regularization of illegal admissions, stating unequivocally that all admissions must go through the authorized Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) with strict adherence to the processes.
Oloyede added that JAMB will only activate academic programs on its platforms that have obtained approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the National Commission for Colleges of Education.
According to him, CAPS, introduced in 2017 to automate and streamline admission processes, and the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System, introduced in 2018, will enhance communication and enable accurate scrutiny for academic program eligibility.
