Some herders were reportedly said to have ambushed worshippers en route to church to commemorate the Good Friday experience in Gbagir community in Ukum local government area of Benue State.
Reports gathered revealed that the number of people killed by the herdsmen was 10, a scheme that was carried out after they lay in wait for the worshippers.
An eyewitness identified as Tersur disclosed that the herders stormed the community in the early hours of the morning, precisely at 6:00 a.m., when unsuspecting Christians were on their way to church to carry out their Good Friday ritual, shooting sporadically at anyone who came into their sight.
โThe armed men stormed the community at about 6:am when members of the community were going to the church to commemorate Good Friday, shooting sporadically at anyone in sight.”
Aggrieved, Tersur complained that the precarious situation has made it seem that the government has left them to their fate.
He also mentioned that the bodies of the victims of the herdsmen’s attack have been taken to the palace of the traditional ruler of their land.
