2027: Those Behind Insecurity Under Goodluck Jonathan Behind Plateau Killings Says APC Chieftain
A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Niger state, Mr. Jonathan Tsado Vatsa has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prove his detractors wrong by taking decisive steps towards ending rising insecurity to avoid truncating his second term chances.
With the security situation getting worse as no day passes without news of being killed by a group or individually, Vatsa encouraged the President to prove that he’s not a weakling before those he described as ‘political merchants’ whose only job is to undermine any government they feel being left out by creating insecurity.
Vatsa, a former Publicity Secretary of the party in Niger state and former Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, was specific that the ongoing violence in Plateau and Benue states is politically motivated by the same group of people to create a state of insecurity to discredit the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Comparing what is happening in today’s Nigerian political space to what happened during President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s second term bid, Vatsa, who spoke to journalists in Minna, expressed concerns about situations whereby some politicians will take it upon themselves to make Nigeria and some states ungovernable simply because they were left out of the system.
While the political merchants intended to undermine the government and sway public opinion against it as the elections approach, Vatsa called for a hard stance to dislodge them else they stand stronger to stop his 2027 re-election.
Former President Jonathan, before the 2015 elections, suffered the same fate, Vatsa said, adding, “What they want is to set Nigerians against Tinubu government as the same individuals in 2014 turned Christians and Muslims against the Goodluck Jonathan administration, using insecurity as a weapon to poison people’s minds”.
“They funded Boko-Haram, orchestrated bombings across Nigeria, including Abuja, and organized the kidnapping of the Chibok school girls, all to ridicule and make the Jonathan administration unpopular. These same people are now revisiting their strategies in the build-up to the 2027 general elections”.
“Current killings in Plateau and Benue are part of this plan, and it’s all about 2027. The government should by now recognize these political merchants who always resort to instigating violence whenever they are excluded from government”.
“They believe that they own Nigeria, and if they are not part of the government in power, they will devise devilish means to make Nigeria ungovernable. We witnessed this during Jonathan’s tenure when he was planning for re-election”.
Vatsa, who is currently one of the Special Advisers to Governor Umar Bago, is therefore encouraging the President to take drastic actions to put the security situation under control as he (Tinubu) has become the target of the current violence and spates of killings across the country.
