
The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in celebration of this year’s Workers’ Day.
In a statement issued Tuesday night in Abuja, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the declaration, praising Nigerian workers for their resilience, commitment, and invaluable role in nation-building.
“Your hard work and dedication are the backbone of our country’s progress and the reason Nigeria continues to earn respect globally,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering industrial growth, economic development, and national unity, assuring workers that their welfare remains a top priority.
Workers’ Day, celebrated globally on May 1st, is dedicated to recognizing the social and economic achievements of laborers and the working class.
