Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has firmly denied any involvement in a viral audio recording currently circulating on social media.
The recording, which features a voice alleged to be hers, includes remarks about certain national figures. However, the senator clarified that the voice was artificially cloned in a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and misrepresent her.
Speaking on Tuesday, June 4, 2025, she described the audio as entirely fabricated and part of a broader scheme of a smear campaign aimed at damaging her reputation.
She emphasized that she never engaged in such a conversation with any journalist or individual, asserting that the voice in the clip is not hers.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also pointed out that this is not the first time her identity has been digitally manipulated.
She recounted previous incidents involving fake audio recordings circulated online, falsely portraying her in conversations with notable public figures.
She added that in some cases, her cloned voice might have been used to place deceptive phone calls to high-profile Nigerians, including Hon. Emmanuel Ekon, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Chief Allen Onyema, and Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye. She disassociated herself from those calls and cautioned the public against falling for such schemes.
Labeling the situation as dangerous, she warned that such actions pose a threat to public peace and national stability. She condemned the misuse of technology to impersonate individuals and spread false narratives, calling it both criminal and deeply harmful.
The senator urged Nigerians to disregard the fake audio and stay vigilant as cases of digital impersonation increase.
She also assured the public that her legal and security teams are actively investigating the matter to identify and bring those responsible to justice.
