The convener of the ‘HER’, initiative Hon Engr Miracle Arimobi recount’s momentous one strides since the launch of the ‘HER’ initiative, which aims to build young women into leaders, changemakers, and contributors to Delta State’s growth story.
“In December 2023, we assumed office as the Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Female Youth Development, and by June 2024, we boldly launched The Power of Her initiative.
“What began as a passion project quickly transformed into a movement, and today, it has grown into a well-structured initiative, working in close partnership with the Office of the SA on Female Youths Development to implement impactful programs aligned with the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
“With the rallying slogan “Sheriff Dey With Her”, our mission has remained clear: to build young women into leaders, changemakers, and contributors to Delta State’s growth story.
Hon Miracle Recounts one year strides
In just one year:
— We have reached over 982 young women through mentorship, leadership, and governance programs
— We’ve connected them directly to local leaders and provided them access to decision-making spaces
— Through the Ministry of Science and Technology, led by Odinigwe Daniel Odigie many of our participants acquired digital skills that are helping them scale globally
— In partnership with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Girl Child Support, led by Orode Uduaghan our girls have been equipped for entrepreneurship under the MORE Agenda
— Through the Office of Job and Wealth Creation, led by Ifeanyi Michael Egwunyenga several young women have gained empowerment and vocational training to thrive in today’s economy
— We have fostered a WhatsApp community of over 1,800 young women, where we consistently share global opportunities, grants, and scholarships
— And through deliberate partnerships with female leaders across diverse sectors, we’ve created a strong, supportive network for continuous growth
Much of this progress would not have been possible without the collaborative spirit and strategic support from key leaders across the state. From Engr. Michael Anoka (Commissioner for Urban Renewal), Hon. Marilyn Okowa-Daramola (Member representing Ika North East, DTHA), Dr. Emu Kingsley (Secretary to the State Government), Mr Aniagwu Charles(Commissioner for Works – Rural Roads & Public Information), to various Local Government Chairmen and development-focused allies, their commitment to youth development enabled us to execute core programs and expand our impact across sectors. Their belief in the vision gave us the momentum to go further, and we remain grateful for their roles in moving The Power of Her forward.
We are deeply grateful to our Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for his trust, his commitment to gender inclusion, and for creating a platform where female youth development is not an afterthought but a strategic priority.
This is just the beginning. We are ready to do MORE.
The Power of Her is just getting started, she concludes.
