Nollywood actress Adunni Ade is mourning the death of her mother following a prolonged illness, with the actress offering prayers for her soul and strength for the family to bear the loss.
Ade announced the death on Monday, October 19, 2026, in an emotional tribute shared on her Instagram page, accompanied by photographs of her late mother.
The actress expressed grief over the loss while submitting to the will of Almighty Allah, praying for her mother’s forgiveness, mercy and eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
“With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator after a long battle with illness,” she wrote.
Ade disclosed that her mother is survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones who will continue to cherish her memory.
She also prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal peace and give the family the patience and strength to cope with the painful loss.
“Ya Allah, forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. Grant us sabr and strength as we navigate this painful loss. Ameen,” the actress wrote.
Expressing her love for her late mother, Ade added, “Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen.”
The actress stated that details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
Ade had previously spoken about her mother’s health challenges. In October 2019, she shared photographs of her mother receiving medical attention in a hospital, describing her as a strong woman and expressing hope for her recovery.
The actress is known for her appearances in both Yoruba and English-language Nollywood productions. Her announcement has drawn condolence messages from colleagues, friends and fans, many of whom have offered prayers and words of comfort to her and her family.
