Men of the Borno State Police Command have arrested a 17-year-old girl, Fatima Adamu, for allegedly killing her newborn baby.
According to reports, Fatima gave birth to a baby boy on March 21 at around 8:00 a.m. However, a witness, Fanna Modu, who heard the baby’s cries, later noticed that the infant had become unresponsive. Suspecting foul play, Modu raised the alarm, prompting community members to alert the police.
Upon arrival, officers examined the baby’s body but found no signs of violence or struggle. The authorities subsequently took Fatima into custody while the infant’s body was transported to the hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
